DEVELOPMENT UPDATE
Control Centre Learns to Adapt to Its Space
CRESA's Control Centre gains responsive navigation and layout behaviour, helping the growing operator interface remain practical across different Dock sizes and available space.
A Growing Interface Creates a New Problem
As more of CRESA moved into the Control Centre, the interface itself had to become smarter about the space available to it. Health, diagnostics, Simulation Lab, settings, customisation and feature controls were all beginning to share the same operator environment, and a layout designed around one fixed size was no longer going to be enough.
The next stage of development focused on making the Control Centre responsive, allowing its navigation and presentation to adapt as the available Dock space changed.
Navigation That Can Adapt
Responsive navigation behaviour was introduced so the Control Centre could reorganise itself rather than simply squeezing an increasingly complex interface into a smaller area. This was particularly important for an OBS Dock, where the operator is free to resize, reposition and combine panels as part of their own workspace.
Instead of assuming there would always be plenty of room, CRESA could now make better decisions about how its controls should be presented.
Built for the Way OBS Is Actually Used
This work was less about adding another headline feature and more about making the growing Control Centre practical in a real broadcast environment. An interface can contain every control imaginable, but that does not help much if it becomes awkward the moment the Dock is resized.
Making the layout responsive meant the Control Centre could continue growing without abandoning the compact Dock experience it was originally designed around.
Giving the Control Centre Room to Grow
The responsive work also laid groundwork for future Control Centre expansion. New diagnostics, controls and production tools could be introduced with a stronger layout system underneath them instead of continually fighting against a fixed interface.
By this point, the Control Centre was not only gaining more responsibility inside CRESA. It was beginning to adapt itself around the operator using it.
